The Crew

The Director

Sammi Leigh Melville

Writer and director Sammi Leigh Melville grew up on Cape Cod, MA, where she developed a love for film. She created several short films while she attended Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, two of which placed in the school's annual film festival. She has also written and directed several short films while attending Messiah College, including a short 16mm film called Second-Order Volition.

Sammi has also taken other positions on set, including art direction for Paper Turtle, a short film directed by Jonathan Stutzman and shot on Super 16mm, which won Best Narrative Short at Columbia International Film Festival in 2010.

The Producer

Rebecca Faith Rinker

Rebecca Faith Rinker has two loves in filmmaking: producing and makeup/FX.  She has been the president of the Messiah Film Society for the past three years and has worked as a production assistant on various undergraduate student films.  Rebecca has done makeup for the Jonathan Stutzman film, Paper Turtle, shot on Super 16mm. Most recently she was co-producer and additional hair and makeup artist for Honest Abe, a Super 16mm film directed by Gannett Cassidy at Temple University.

The Assistant Producer

Lynn George

From the sweet town of Hershey, PA, Lynn George got her love of films with weekly Friday night homemade pizza and movies with her family throughout her childhood. During her four years at Messiah College, she has written, produced, acted, directed, and edited several short films. Most recently, she has co-produced Peter Herron's senior project Winter Sun in Philadelphia. She has also directed and produced several short films for Derry Presbyterian Church and Krislund Summer Camp and Conference Center, where she completed an internship last summer.

The Director of Photography

B. Neil Plumley

Production assistant, grip, and actor are among the many titles that B. Neil Plumley attributes to his portfolio since coming to Messiah College. Most recently he was a camera assistant on the Messiah College 16mm senior project The Blind, directed by Ken Abbott, and the 1st AC on the 16mm Temple graduate project Paper Turtle, directed by Jonathan Stutzman, which won Best Narrative Short at the Columbia Gorge International Film Festival in 2010.

The Post-production/Visual Effects Supervisor

Will Rowe

Will Rowe has always had a keen interest in computers and the world of technology, and in recent years, he has found his niche in film with post-production. Will has been trained in a wide variety of software and recently worked for Philadelphia-based digital production company Get Kinetic, Inc. as an assistant editor. He works most often in editing and visual effects, with a focus in compositing and motion graphics. Will hopes that his knowledge of post-production workflow will add great depth and realism to the moving story of Metamorphosis.

The Art Director

Joshua Wacker

Josh has a wide range of interests including writing, experimental film, photography, and graphic arts, but has always been most attracted to the visual elements of filmmaking. In addition to creating his own projects, he as been a production assistant on numerous student films. Most recently Josh pre-produced the 35mm short film Alvin Foster (dir. Andy Smith).  After a four-month hiatus in Egypt, he looks forward to working in film production again, and the challenge of creating the environment of Metamorphosis.

The Assistant Director

Katie Breiter

Katie has had great experiences in all aspects of the filmmaking process.  From September 2009 to May 2010 she worked as an associate producer on filmmaker Nicole Eckenroad's senior thesis film, The Apartment People, at Temple University.  On that set she got a taste of the chaos that is the life of a film producer.  In May 2010 she completed a short film she shot and edited about urban gardening in Philadelphia - her first amateur "promotional documentary" and her largest personal film project thus far.   In the summer of 2010 Katie worked on the theatrical marketing team at Zeitgeist Films, where she got a glimpse into the world of film distribution.   Her new position as the assistant director on the Metamorphosis set is yet another new and exciting experience.  Katie is also currently in pre-production on her most ambitious project yet, a documentary about her cousin Adam, a sixteen-year-old with autism (shooting scheduled to begin in December 2010).  She believes that documentary film, her true love, is an excellent way to raise attention to important people, places, and issues. She hopes that her future in film, wherever it may lead, will inspire others to take notice of new things and keep on learning.
